3 Photographers Shoot the Same model
This week I take Jessica Kobeissi's 3 photographers shoot the same model challenge and shoot it out against 3 very talented photographers: Patrick Park and Nigel Tanabe
Model of the day: Matt Maddox
The challenge was very impromptu and we were very limited with space/wardrobe/time but overall it was a blast. Having to think on your feet, knowing that your time was quickly running out is a skill I want to further develop for those unexpected moments that occur during a photoshoot. The Truth Behind Jessica Kobeissi
Jessica Kobeissi is a self taught fashion photographer based out of Detroit. She runs a youtube channel where she takes you on a journey through her photographic career, giving tips, tricks, and techniques along the way.
I want to first preface by giving her a big shout-out and thank you not only for taking the time out of her busy schedule to film this, but for being a good mentor and friend. As someone who is on a similar path to her, I have found many challenges and questions that only someone with more experience could answer.
What was supposed to be a quick shoot ended up being a day filled with adventure, drama, and MURDER!
Right after the shoot was done, we all grabbed a quick bite to eat I gave Jessica and Irene a ride to their Air bnb only to discover that there were police all around and the entire block was closed off. Apparently there had been a shooting on their block. Not only that but the shooter was still running around with a gun!

Irene ended up missing her flight back to Canada, Jessica's stylist was in the air bnb right next door to the shooting and we ended up going to the movies and getting nutella pancakes.
Everybody in our group was ok, thankfully, all's well that ends well.

A look into - "Organic"
It's funny how one idea tends to inspire another almost by accident. Touching on similar themes to that of my previous series "Flowerchild" (being a child of the planet) I came up with a more light hearted version. Fruit of the planet/children of the earth is the literal theme/life and death and our limited time as "ripe" fruit is the subject matter. I wanted to incorporate pop art/vibrant fun colors. . I just started finished part of this series about a month ago in April. I started this project back in 2015 , so like most of my art, it's unfinished and will be revisited when I can afford some more fruit to be photographed... All of the elements are real just photographed separately and layered/blended in photoshop.
We are only on this earth for a limited time and I think it is important to remind ourselves of that thought, however morbid that may sound, because there are so many opportunities and experiences that life has to offer. We just have to be willing to answer the call. I don't think that dwelling on our own mortality should be depressing, rather it should spark in us the drive and desire to actually LIVE! Thank you for reading, I believe life is a beautiful gift and we should live it to the fullest.
